Still Going Strong!

I just completed my eleventh day of TurboFire.  It was HIIT 15 and Sculpt 30- I must have not pushed myself as hard during the last HIIT 15 workout, cuz this one almost killed me.  Then, adding the Sculpt 30 after...it was just brutal.  My arms, legs and abs were still quaking 20 minutes after.  The resistance bands are pretty awkward, but once I get used to them I'm sure it'll get better.  Or maybe it wasn't awkward at all, and my arms are just that weak.  I had a bit of trouble with the bowler lunges, too.  All in good time, though!

Earlier this week I did the HIIT 20...I actually liked it better than the HIIT 15 (minus the sumo burpees).

I'm very proud of sticking with this schedule, because on Friday (the 8th) the boyfriend MAY have become "the fiance!"  :-D :-D :-D  Yep!  MORE motivation to stick with the program now, have to be nice and toned for the wedding!  Since I'm finishing this in September, I'm thinking of getting Chalean Extreme to do the Hybrid closer to the wedding (that one's 5 months).

Here's hoping the dieting sticks, with celebratory food and drinks happening (so far so good, though- down 2 lbs this week still!)  Fire 55 tomorrow!

79 Days to Go!!!

5 in a row!

For the first time in my LIFE, I have worked out five days straight!  I have to say, it feels good- productive, accomplished, blah blah blah.  I'm starting to pick up on the moves, which is good.

Since the last post, I've done the Fire 55 EZ (not so easy...but burned almost 700 calories).  I also readjusted my diet- quit the low-carb, back to counting calories.  Because of how much I'm working out, I'm hungry ALL. THE. TIME!  Like, ANGRY hungry.  Like, I eat before my workout, have my workout, get ready for and head to work, and halfway through the commute I want to punch the car next to me.  So, as long as I'm eating GOOD carbs, I should be okay.

This morning was my third Fire 30/Stretch 10.  It was rudely interrupted by a car nose-diving into the ditch by my condo.  I freaked out and called the police, but the dispatcher was a total wench- not believing where the accident happened, not believing that the car wasn't easily seen because of bushes in the ditch- "There are no ditches there.  I don't know what you're telling me."  Finally, police showed from someone else who called so I told her nevermind.  It was frustrating.

So, I'm not supposed to take measurements for a month, but I was curious.  After five days, I've lost 1 1/2 lbs, an inch off my waist, 1/2" off my hips and 1/2" off my left arm.

This afternoon, the boyfriend and I are leaving for a weekend(ish) away- to his Alma Mater and then stopping by the New Glarus Brewery and walking a bit on the Ice Age trail tomorrow.  We'll see how well I keep my calories in check with all that delicious beer and food :-/  Sunday's workout will be Core 20 & Stretch 40- I have a feeling those will feel amazing after this week's schedule.

Still loving it, though!

2 Down, 88 To Go

Day 2 has been completed!  Actually, it was completed around 10 hours ago.  Alas, the harried life of a children's librarian...

Today's was the HIIT 15- so 15 minutes of 30-second HIIT combinations.  It was definitely tough, and my knee's still complaining.  Also, bits of my arms hurt that have never hurt before.  I'm used to post-workout bicep and tricep pain, even some shoulder stuff- but my forearm?  I've been struggling to lift and open my water bottle all day.

I'm modifying this week's schedule a bit.  After a year and a half the boyfriend and I are finally getting away for an entire weekend, without family/friends/dog.  I was not going to have my relaxation interrupted, so instead of taking tomorrow off, I'm shifting all workouts til Saturday.

On top of all this working out, I'm going to try to stick with the low-carb thing I started in May.  I didn't lose any weight on it, but definitely felt more energetic, and combined with c25k, lost a couple of inches.

Now...3 1/2 more hours of work, and the hopes I keep my dinner down.  I don't think the turkey lunchmeat I brought was up to par, despite being sealed until this morning.  If not, it may be an early night for this girl.

The journey continues...

I Survived Day 1!

Well, I did it.

I failed miserably at some of the combinations, but I know I'll pick up on them soon (thank you history of having to learn dances in a mere afternoon).  I'm using the schedule provided, so today's was the Fire 30 and 10 minute stretch.

Honestly, though, it was fun.  The one drawback was that I was still recovering from this morning's hangover.  We celebrated the 4th of July last night in the Milwaukee Harbor and yours truly had one too many Sweet Tea Vodka & Lemonades.  I was bound and determined to start this journey today, though, so I sucked it up.

The boyfriend lent me a knee strap, so I'm hoping that will help with some of the plyo work.  My kneecaps  have a history of slipping out and I don't want that to be a reason I can't get in shape.  After I finished this "class" I was drenched in sweat, and had to make the boyfriend grab me a dish towel.  I thought they were exaggerating when they said to include a towel with your workout equipment.  Then, as I was relaying the fire drills to the boyfriend, my legs started shaking uncontrollably.  I'd say that's a sign of a good workout.

Tomorrow is the HIIT 15.  Let's do this!

It Starts...

Okay, my TurboFire came this week.  I'm in the middle of C25k and wanted to finish that first, but my boyfriend brought up a good point- I just spent $140 on this.  So, I will be starting this 12-week journey on Monday (4th of July!)

January of 2009 I weighed 210.  The weight had gone up steadily through undergrad and the first year of grad school.  I was stressed, and therefore stress-eating, and down on myself (low-income, trying to find a job in my field, plus some other emotional set-backs) and therefore, sad-eating.  When it got to 210 I decided to take the bull by the horns.  After high school, I moved to SoCal to perform with a singing & dancing group, and got my weight down to 160.  Apparently that changes when you move to the midwest. But!  I had done it once and convinced myself I could do it again.  Diet changes and incorporating exercise, and July of 2011 I'm at a pretty steady 170.

I would like to get back down to at least 160, and tighten/tone.  Plus, I'm sick of the Wii Fit telling me I'm overweight and watching my Mii get fatter as the thing tells me I'm overweight.

So, as I begin, stats are as follows:

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 170.1
Bust: 37"
Waist: 30"
Hips: 42.5"
Right Arm: 12.5"
Left Arm: 12.5"
Right Thigh: 25"
Left Thigh: 25"

I do have to say, even with my month of Couch to 5k, I've lost some inches (more like half and quarter inches).   Yesterday I went looking for summer clothes, as mine have gotten ginormous, and got to shop in the Juniors section of Kohl's for the first time since, like Jr. High :-D  It was a good moment.
